Alien Life May be a possibility on the Moon
Moon has always fascinated mankind. The lunar surface is the only other planet besides the Earth where men have strode. Although, plenty is known about the Moon, there are several mysteries that surround the Moon.
A theory by Joop Houtkooper who is with the University of Giessen, at the Europlanet’s latest Planetary Science Congress states that some conditions on the craters on the Moon may be beneficial to preserve samples of life from the Earth any possibly even from Mars.
Moon’s rotation is at an angle that brings the sun directly over the equator. Therefore, there are some poles on the Moon that are always dark as the sun never reaches to these poles. According to Houtkooper, the Shackleton crater that is nineteen kms in diameter located on the Moon’s south pole may comprise the areas that are shadowed.
Signs of life.
Houtkooper says that finding old meteorites on the lunar surface is thrilling; however, it is more interesting to know what may be found within these meteorites.
Think about the simple bacteria life during the Earth’s early days that existed within a rock, which blasts off the planet’s surface due to a huge impact. Theoretically, a part of these samples may possibly land on the lunar craters like the Shackleton. After landing on the surface, these would be preserved for several billion years. Any life form transferred to the Moon in this manner would be dead, however, there is a possibility that some of the stronger life forms may survive the travel in a latent state. Houtkooper believes that early Earth life could be found on the lunar surface.
The possibilities become intriguing when one considers the impact of a large object that is roughly 10 kilometers in diameter. When such an event occurs, there would be adequate substance that is thrown to create a thin lunar atmosphere. Such a fragile atmosphere may last for hundreds of years, which is sufficient period for the latent life carried from other planets to the moon to become active.
Therefore, it may be possible that all along the vast history of the Moon, there will have been simple life forms, which are alien organisms.
